countdown to crazytime

Well, yesterday I had my Biology Practical exam and it went okay. Having the first exam go well has put me in better spirits about the rest of them, I only wish they'd hurry round now so I can get on with more important things like eating ice-creams in the park, going on holiday with the girls and spending the summer with Jay. It's going to be good, just as good as the past week has been since he's been home. It's almost impossible to explain how amazing it was to see Jay again and fall asleep in his bed and go out to the cinema, and all the simple things like that :)

In other news, and more sombre news, all the ducklings got eaten last week by a black cat. I was up at 5 o'clock one morning searching the garden trying to find the ducklings as mother duck had awoken me at such ungodly hours with persistant quacking. She stayed in the garden on her own (still quacking in distress) for a few more days waiting for her babies to return, but alas they never did and now some fat cat has nine baby duck corpses sitting around somewhere. It was truely heartbreaking.

exciting things!

This week a Mrs.Duck decided to nest in our garden which was very stupid, but anyway there are now 9 bundles of fluff waddling around which are possibly the cutest things ever to waddle this earth. We didn't know what to do with them and the RSPCA wouldn't come and rescue them so we built a make shift pond and duck house and they seem happy enough. They're the most adorable things and pretty funny to watch, especially when they fall over.

I'm having dinner with Jay on Tuesday evening, that's only two days away! It's nice to count in days and not weeks nor months. I'm so excited it's like waiting for the best present EVER.

Argh, why does the post always seem to take much longer when you're waiting for something?! It's damn annoying that I'm most importantly waiting for a letter from Jay for a couple weeks now, as well as a postcard from Chris and then less importantly new bank information. Confound you post services of the world! I'll just have to wait until tomorrow, again.

Anyway, I thought I'd delight you with some photos from Oslo which was a lovely birthday weekend away with Jay back in the cold days of February. Norway looks like such a nice country I think, I'd like to go there in the summertime.

Now though I'm just going to watch TV and drink way too much chocolate milkshake, mmm.

Fortress and snow!

'Wheel of Life' statue in park, taken by Jay

Jay walking down Karl Johan street

bonsoir everybody..

and happy Easter Monday, or whatever it is. It's turned out to be a nice holiday from sixth form, what with Holly's birthday and other social things. However, I haven't spent too much time at home, I went to Athens on Tuesday with Dad. Well, I tell a lie, we weren't actually in Athens at all but staying in a small town of Vouliagmeni futher down the coast. When Dad was at work I spent most of the time relaxing on the beach and falling asleep in the sun, starting off the summer tan early. We did catch a boat over to the beautiful fishing island of Aigina (left) one day and ate the most delicious strawberries with ice-cream and pancakes in a small harbour cafe.

Anyway, our cheap flights connected in Prague and on the return leg we got to spend around 24 hours in this amazing city. We went out for dumplings, recommended by Jay, and drinks for dinner in the only evening we were there and then wandered the back streets of the city, not really knowing where we were going until we ended up at Charles Bridge which we walked across looking at the stunning view of Prague castle, which we looked around further the next day. Before leaving for home we went around the Old Town market and Jewish Quarter and then looked in the National Museum (filming site of Mission Impossible, woo). It really is a beautiful and romantic city and I wish I had longer to explore it, although it was pretty busy which I'm guessing is due to it being the Easter holidays.

So this is the time for the usual 'I don't want to go back to sixth form' rant, but that isn't going to happen here as I actually kind of want to go back to keep myself busy for the next few weeks. Because in four weeks time Jay comes home and the busier I am the faster the time will go. Saying that I've missed him, and still miss him every hour that he's not here would be an understatement. Although in comparison to the time we've already spent apart these last few weeks almost seem like nothing, but then again four weeks can feel like forever when you're waiting for something so bad. At least it's only a month or 28 days or about 672 hours, but hey who's counting...

Vouliagmeni beach

Aigina harbour

Prague Castle

Jazz band on Charles Bridge

Street musician on Charles Bridge

Old Town Square

Wenceslas Square

Apparently there was a man who starred in Brookside at work last week, this is most uninteresting, I know. Personally, I would have preferred somebody like, say...Rufus Sewell. Anyway, I'm pleased that I've got all of my filming done now, and hopefully by tomorrow I will have a completely finished music video that I might actually end up liking because Bex is in it and she looks foxy. I'm also pretty excited that Jay is back in the country next week which means phone call time for me! You might think it silly to get excited about one phone call, but I think I'm allowed to when I've been waiting to hear Jay's voice for what seems like ages now. Even though I feel unhappy that he's not here, I know he'll be back before I know it, which makes me feel giddy in the best way :D

I have yet to decide if I'm looking forward to Easter holidays. I'll probably just end up working for most of the two weeks and eating too many mini-eggs. Here's hoping for some nice weather, at least.

A few weeks ago I went flying with dad (being the pilot, top picture) which was fun but very scary to be sitting in the back of a small tin cup with wings and one propeller. Also, I've been watching unhealthy amounts of Desperate Housewives and not doing enough important things with my time, like putting up pictures of Bill Murray in my room and buying more shoes or reading books by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who is now a favourite author of mine. Goodnight, ya'll.

I saw 'Good Night and Good Luck' which is sexy and makes me want to be a cinematographer even though i know that'll never happen; but still, a superb film. I also drank white wine, ate spring rolls from my weetabix bowl and watched something on tv that was so pointless i can't even remember now what it was. Anyway, soon i'll go to bed and worry some more about work, maybe i'll write a screeplay for film, or storyboard my music video, or even start again on my english work because i've been told to 'try it from a different angle' even though the angle was the one i was going to do in the first place before being told not to by teachers. Or i could spend some time learning about the five or six different hormones that control your menstrual cycle ladies, or even read about sperm and how those little swimmers work out what direction to go in. Or, inevitably, i'll sit here and cry a little and think about Jay and where he is and what he's been up to, because no amount of coursework will make you stop thinking about someone every hour of the day. You can say that you miss them a hundred times over, but you can't actually say how much you miss them, how you wish you could just have a conversation with the person you care most about and how you wish you could have a hug, or a cuddle or even both in a huggle. I'll just sigh and realise that things might suck for a little while and then say that I miss Jay. So much.

So here's something I don't understand; how come American people manage to put all of their food shopping into just two brown paper bags, because all you ever see on such American shows as Desperate Housewives and Friends is two brown paper bags. I don't get it, I always thought brown paper grocery bags were cool, but then that's ridiculous as they don't even have handles.

In other news; This evening I discovered Nina Nastasia, she is amazing. I've pulled a muscle in the back of my leg, I have a 10 hour shift tomorrow (Valentine's Day Wedding - yuck) and I'm feeling weird in all the wrong ways. You won't catch me complaining though.

hello 2006 and how lovely you are already, i feel custom to say that new years night was a most excellent evening even though a bit cold on the poor feet :(

anyway, i have many plans and dreams already for this year, one of which is very exciting and involves my 18th birthday at the beginning of next month - Jay and I have tickets and a hotel booked in Oslo (Norway!) over my birthday weekend (excited squeal!). It's going to be cold and wonderful and I am so looking forward to prancing about in the snow, learning about vikings, saying hello in Norwegian and most importantly spending time exploring another city with my amazing boyfriend before he leaves. I have a map in my hand and a picture in my mind of how perfect it will be.

A most excellent week, I'm really happy and definately looking forward to breaking up next Tuesday, wahey! Tonight I saw King Kong with Jay which was excellent and quite emotional, and almost had me in tears - I recommend it to anyone who isn't already planning on seeing it, and it doesn't even feel as though you're sitting in a cinema seat for three hours. Here are the rest of my New York photos of the Empire State (minus monkeys) and things, there are quite a few (apologies). I swear last night I was smiling until I fell asleep and I think that's what I'm going to go and do now.

View from hotel window, eeee!

Empire State:

Looking at Central Park

Looking towards South Manhattan

Brooklyn Bridge:

Ground Zero:

Rockerfeller Center: (my favourites)

Grand Central Terminal:

With all the excitement of going to New York, I pretty much forgot to say that this trip included visiting Washington too. So that's where I've been today, walking around in the snow and cold getting wet feet. I have managed to see quite a few of the memorials and museams though which was cool. I'm leaving for the airport now where I plan to read my book "Sentimental Education" by Flaubert, it's French and old. Home time I think, see all you lovely people soon...

A good change I think (mmm, candle light) until I get bored again. Notice bag packed for flight to New York tomorrow, with space to spare for presents on the trip home. I'm stupidly ill and very exhausted. My defences have been shattered over the past few days, so over the next week away I shall rebuild them by eating bagels, taking photos and generally listening to Jose Gonzalez and Patrick Wolf - it's going to be revitalising, or so I hope.

Anyway, if you would like a postcard or something, then leave your address here and I will write you something nice because I am nice like that :)

I brought two chocolate croissants after school and went to see Jay who wouldn't let me eat mine before dinnertime. We watched the Ipswich game, and I learnt more about football which isn't as boring as I thought it was at the beginning of this year. I remember falling asleep watching Manhattan, waking up and making crumpets with honey for our supper - then I got my goodnight kiss, left and collapsed in my own bed.

Falling asleep all over the place recently, even in a chair in Jack's conservatory on Saturday during poker, after somebody took my pink wig (favourite bit of Scarlett Johansson costume) which I need to get back, please!

I'm excited about
- no school friday
- salsa dancing tonight
- my offer from Glasgow University (picture)

tonight, i curled up on my own with some wine and watched The Phantom of The Opera, all of the behind the scenes making of documentaries for that and then the Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing BBC adaptations that i missed before. they were fantastic. strangely enough in the latter they quoted sonnet 116 - 'let me not to the the marriage of true minds' which brought back many memories of annotating this particular poem in yr11 english, which then brought about the realisation of having grown up so much since then. what with the amazingly powerful drama performance yesterday and this evening's spectacle, i feel i have had an overload of illusory romance.

i would like to go to the theatre this christmas, i would like to go to the ballet again as i did when i was a little girl and i would like to go salsa dancing.

Well, I was going to go the the gym earlier because I ran away from Sixth Form earlier than I should have done to avoid AS media but instead I stayed home and baked - I baked pie! AND some cute little lemon butterfly cakes, there is too many to eat though. I think this was the far better option and now I'm going to sit here and not do much and definately not clean up the kitchen. I will however carry on wearing my Snoopy apron, it's hot.

an alien in my dream last night glued my legs together into one big leg so i had to hop around, it was HORRIBLE! i had to get up and go for a walk around the room to make sure i actually still had the two legs and that i could still put one foot in front of the other. Me thinks this has something to do with Jay threatening to put me in a sleeping bag, tie my feet together and feed me bananana's yesterday evening :[ he was only joking though (i hope) and this will NEVER happen. Right now I have to:

a) find my phone
b) eat some shreddies
c) put my clothes on the radiator so that they're nice a toastie when i put them on, RAH!

I know he doesn't really but he was wearing dark glasses and had a funny chin. Also, Anthony Kiedis reminded me of Tim 'Mad Timo' Howard, scary indeed.

I have also learnt that I missed out in my childhood by never being shown The Neverending Story which has every magical creature that a childs movie should have - things that eat rock, huge bats, super fast snails, a boy called Bastian, fantasy worlds, bullying and horses that sink in swamps, awesome!

Madonna's new album Confessions On A Dance Floor is all electro-popish and retro which is really good, but still kinda bad. Good comes in the form of Madeleine Peyroux, chillout albums and going to bed. UGH.

I even ran to take it. And then ran back again because I saw a man walking his dog right near the phone box I wanted to take a picture of, so I got scared. I think he lives down my street anyway, but what's with walking the dog so late man? Man, man, man it's been a pointless day at Sixth Form. Kinda getting annoyed that the teachers never actually do any work in film or media, I'm learning to be super-productive with my time you see. Or at least trying. However, I have now finished my personal statement bar one paragraph (Ta-da!) and used lots of nice words like passionate and enthusiasm. I wasn't actually going to write much here apart from the title (which by the way is from one of my favourite poems 'The Indian To His Love' by Yeats), and what is going on with these semi-short sentences huh? It's gone midnight and I'm not in bed, naughty.
